ABOUT ME

BACP photo.jpg

Hello, I'm Amy, and I am an attachment focused psychotherapist working with adults and young people in Manchester area and beyond.

My initial training was in Integrative Psychotherapy, which focused on several modalities including psychodynamic and relational psychotherapy. Since qualifying as a therapist, I have mainly worked with people who experienced significant interpersonal trauma, such as sexual abuse, domestic abuse and childhood neglect. Alongside my private practice, I currently work in a private mental health hospital as well as a specialist service for people who experienced sexual violence.

As an attachment based psychotherapist, my main approach is examining the impact that our past relationships might have had on our understanding of the world and how we might repeat these patterns (or dynamics) going forward. I hope to help you firstly understand and then change these patterns to have a more fulfilling life.

I also work with couples who are currently experiencing difficulty in their present relationship. This might include ongoing conflict, difficulties in communication, infidelity and psychosexual issues.

I am also trained in a number of therapeutic techniques for people who have experienced trauma, such as Rewind. I am qualified to work with ages 14 and above. I am also a member of the BACP and therefore follow all of their ethical framework and procedures.
